Koktebel is an urban resort settlement which is located within 20 km to the south –west of Feodosiya, on the shore of Koktebel Bay at the foot of volcano massif Kara-Dag. Hills with grape yards hide Koktebel from the north and the east. On the north – east of Koktebel there is a popular paragliding spot – Klement’ev’s Mountain (Uzun - Syrt) which is universally known as a motherland of Soviet gliding and paragliding. On the west of Koktebel there is Mountain Kara-Dag, an extinct volcano and natural reserve. Kara-Dag is a local attraction, a very scenic place with lots of extinct plants, natural deposits of minerals and semi-precious stones. It can be visited only if you are a member of a tourist group. Koktebel is a famous for its wonderful beaches, dry and clear air, unique landscapes , delicious grapes , vines and cognacs. It has been a mecca for people of art and culture since XIX century when Koktebel was discovered by Russian artist and poet M. Voloshin. Koktebel is a venue for many popular festivals in Crimea, one of the most known are Koktebel Jazz Festival, international tango and dance festivals , wine festivals and many others.
